Seven Men I Know: A pile of poems & short stories
Done into English by Mevlut Ceylan
Turkish modernity in one volume.
This anthology brings together seven mammoths of 20th century Turkish literature, transformed into English by poet-translator Mevlut Ceylan.
Featuring writing by Sezai Karakoç, Erdem Bayazıt, Akif İnan, Nuri Pakdil, Cahit Zarifoğlu, and Rasim Özdenören and Alâeddin Özdenören, this volume contains the spectrum of modern Turkish poetry from the Second New (İkinci Yeni) movement to independent poetic forces.
Produced in the literary vibrancy of the newly declared Republic of Türkiye, the texts in this anthology pierce right to the heart of questions of the sublime, deep history, East-West interconnections, and the legacy of revolution.
Featuring full-page illustrations by Turkish caricaturist Hasan Aycın, taking the reader deeper into each author’s personality and style.
